Getting a six pack requires a dedicated approach to diet and exercise. Building muscle means eating lots of protein. This helps to melt away fat and improve muscle tone, giving you the chiselled abs you have been waiting for.
Get a protein hit in the morning by having a smoothie for breakfast. This should contain yogurt, milk, fruit and tofu for maximum protein. You can buy protein drinks from your local health shop and is an easy way to boost protein levels, and to help you in getting a six pack. Add tuna, chicken or boiled egg to a salad and you are good to go.
Spot reducing fat is impossible. Instead, do lots of cardio – at least 20 minutes daily to get you hot and sweaty. That is when the fat on your body begins to burn away and you begin to lose weight.
Interval training can boost weight and fat loss because you challenge your body by alternating between sharp bursts of high intensity training with low intensity work. The short and sharp bursts of activity will help fire up your muscles and make it easier to drop fat.
Getting a six pack means lots of strength training. Good exercises would include yoga, pilates, cardio based ab work, core work and the use of a swiss ball. All of these things will tone you up really fast. The key is consistency. Working out hard and fast for one day a week won’t do much, you need to keep moving everyday or at least four days a week to see results.
For a woman, focus on lots of repetition using light weights. This gives you a toned and tight appearance. If you are a man, getting a six pack means fewer reps with heavier weights to help achieve this.
Keep yourself motivated by tracking changes and by mixing up workouts and trying new things all the time. This way, your abs are under constant attack and do not have time to get bored or stop progressing. With some effort, you will have killer abs in no time.
