Product Review: Your Personal Best by Elle McPherson Workout DVD
‘Your Personal Best’ by Elle McPherson is an excellent introduction to circuit training as the workout targets each and every major muscle group in a solid 50 minute workout.
The workout is shot beautifully Down Under and has fitness expert Karen Voight on hand to show Elle the exercises and give correct instructions. ‘Your Personal Best’ is broken down into the following segments:
- Warm-up
- Aerobics
- Strength work for butt and arms
- Aerobics
- Arms, legs and butt work
- Aerobics
- Abs and butt
- Cool down
Each segment is highly energized and really gets your heart pumping. The moves for the aerobics are easy to follow and do not require too much co-ordination. The more you put into this workout, the more you will get out of it.
The aerobic sections get more challenging as the workout progresses and this is great because you can really feel your body working hard to complete the moves. The brilliant thing about the aerobic sections is that Karen explains that keeping your feet low to the ground will allow you to benefit from the workout even if you are feeling tired and cannot manage. This makes the workout appealing for all levels of fitness.
‘Your Personal Best’ has comprehensive strength training moves and is ideal for those who are looking to tone up all of their major muscles. The moves are simple, safe and highly effective. Users of this workout notice the burn during the workout as well as sore muscles the next day.
The abs work in ‘Your Personal Best’ is great – you work all of your back and mid-section with targeted, traditional crunches. It would have been nice to see something different such as Pilates or yoga moves for the abs, although admittedly, the workout does give you a sore stomach for days afterwards.
On balance, ‘Your Personal Best’ is an excellent choice for those of you who are looking for a complete workout with cardio and strength moves in one convenient workout. It is also suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Weight loss without working out is tough. It doesn’t have to kill you to be effective. All you need to do is slight increase the amount of calories burned. Couple that with a good easy to follow diet plan and you can be successful.
